What to know about Arkansas

Three things make Arkansas unusual. A used vehicle under $4,000 is completely exempt. Local tax applies only to the first $2,500 of the price, which caps it at a small amount. And Arkansas gives you no credit for sales tax paid to another state, so buying out of state can mean paying twice. You pay at the revenue office when you register, not at the dealer, and you have 60 days before a 10 percent penalty.
