Connecticut registers passenger vehicles for three years at a time, so a renewal comes to $166.50 for three years, about $55.50 a year. The DMV fee table lists $120 with no period attached, which is why the figure is widely republished as if it were annual.
The Clean Air Act fee and the Passport to the Parks fee are also per cycle: $15 and $24 for three years, or $10 and $16 on a two-year registration. A renewal also carries a $7.50 greenhouse gas fee that the DMV fee table does not list at all. Drivers aged 65 or older may choose a one-year renewal instead, in which case every one of these is prorated.
Plate, title, administrative, lien and emissions exemption charges apply only when you first register the vehicle. A new car bought from a dealer comes to $254.00 because of them.

The registration fee is flat, but Connecticut layers on several small charges including a Clean Air Act fee and the Passport to the Parks fee. Electric vehicles are exempt from the Clean Air Act fee and pay no EV surcharge. Towns bill motor vehicle property tax separately.
