How New Hampshire calculates registration

Registering in New Hampshire takes two steps, and the town permit fee is usually far larger than the state fee. A new car with a $30,000 list price owes $540 to the town at 18 mills while the state portion is only $42. Note that many town websites still show the older state rates of $31.20, $43.20 and $55.20; the current statute says $42, $48 and $66.

Renewal cycle: annual.
